5th Grade Curriculum Overview

5th Grade Bible

1 year

Help your students develop a lifelong relationship with the Father through His Word in this engaging Bible course. Interactive, media-infused lessons present the concepts of God's presence in our lives, the existence of angels, the Bible as a book of prophecy and poetry, and God's work shown through service to others.


Engaging and interactive, this course was designed to encourage the use of the Bible as a guidebook for daily life. Students learn about Abraham, the apostle Paul, and other servants of God, in addition to the importance of service to God in their daily lives. They will explore biblical principles of the law, fundamental biblical truths, biblical structure, and how to apply God's Word practically as they learn and grow.

5th Grade English

1 year – available as an Honor course

Give your students the inspiration they need to discover the beauty of language with 5th Grade English. This course focuses on the story as a literary form, exploring main ideas, story elements, correct word usage, and symbolism. Spelling, grammar, vocabulary, reading, and composition are all integrated into this interactive course that not only reinforces key language arts concepts but encourages learning from a biblical perspective.


Text-based lessons, audio, and video clips, and integrated learning games allow students to practice digital literacy, build language skills, and increase their understanding of God's presence in their lives.

5th Grade History

1 year – available as an Honor course

Travel through time with your students as they explore the changing face of America beginning with early exploration, through colonization and the Civil War, and into the current millennium. As part of this course, students will also learn about the nation's closest continental and island neighbors. Bible verses (KJV) and biblical references support the development of a Christian worldview and encourage practical Christian living.

This history and geography course was designed to be academically rigorous, promote digital literacy, and help students to understand the history and development of the Western Hemisphere, including the United States, from a Christ-centered point of view.

5th Grade Math

1 year – available as an Honor course

This course builds on basic math skills with an introduction to concepts of algebraic expressions and equations, factors and fractions, geometry, measurement comparisons, and data analysis. Interactive lessons are packed with multimedia features that aid in the memorization and retention of math rules and concepts.

This course is academically rigorous and promotes digital literacy. Students expand on foundational math, become familiar with new concepts, and improve problem-solving and critical thinking skills based on a Christ-centered point of view.

5th Grade Science

1 year – available as an Honor course

From simple life forms to complex organisms, this course guides 5th graders to explore the structure of cells and their functions as the building blocks of life. Students also investigate life cycles and the fine balance necessary for healthy ecosystems. 5th Grade Science is a self-directed course infused with technology-based lessons, tools, and exercises to enrich learning for students. Bible verses (KJV) and biblical references support the development of a Christian worldview and encourage practical Christian living.

This science course was designed to be academically rigorous, promote digital literacy, and give students a biblical science perspective. Guided by their teacher, students will look at God's creation and how all living things rely on each other in His miraculous plan for our earth. They will also study fossil records from a Christ-centered point of view.
