Policies & Refunds

For continued enrollment at Enlightium Academy, each student is expected to maintain good standing: passing grades in core subjects and staying up-to-date with the assigned weekly schedule.

Students with failing grades in core classes and/or those who fall behind more than two weeks on average between all classes, without excused absences, are at risk of being labeled “at-risk”. This is to alert families of the risk that their student will not be able to complete the school year on time and/or with passing grades, and therefore may need a summer school extension, class assignment adjustments, and/or teacher and counselor intervention. The interventions may include a course plan adjustment by the student’s counselor, teacher collaboration on student learning needs, and/or suggestions to install monitoring software on the student’s computer to provide additional accountability and uncover any potential distractions the student may have.

Students who do not demonstrate improvement or sufficient effort after multiple interventions may be recommended for withdrawal so the family can find a learning environment that better suits the student.

Absences may be excused per approval via the Absence Form. Please contact the Enlightium team if you have any questions at (509) 319-2288 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

14-Day Money Back Guarantee

All new students are offered 14 calendar days after courses are assigned to test out Enlightium’s program. If the student’s family decides to withdraw within those 14 days, a withdrawal fee will not be charged and all paid tuition will be refunded. The enrollment fee is non-refundable after three business days. If parents are still not sure about continuing enrollment at Enlightium, they can reach out to the Enlightium team with their questions or concerns by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or calling (509) 319-2288.

If withdrawing after the 14-day trial period, the tuition is prorated based on the time enrolled (if on track or behind) or work completed (if ahead) and a staggered withdrawal fee applies to the remaining balance: 20% for withdrawing between 15–30 calendar days, 30% for 31–60 days, 40% for 61–90 days from beginning coursework, and no refund after 90 days.

If after the 14-day trial period Enlightium Academy has not met a family’s expectations, Enlightium's administration team will investigate any of their concerns and enact changes as needed. Families can communicate any concerns directly to the administration team by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Refunds

Credit and debit card refunds take 7–10 business days to process for transactions less than a month old. If the most recent transaction is over a month old, a direct deposit or check will need to be requested. Direct deposits can be processed within 3-4 business days. You may contact the Billing Department at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any questions.

If a primary school student (PreK–2nd grade) withdraws, the staggered withdrawal fee applies only to the tuition. The “beginning of coursework" is considered two weeks from the date that the book order form was emailed to the Primary Parent on file. Parents will need to coordinate with Alpha Omega Publications or BJU Press about book returns and reimbursements.

Withdrawal Process

Enlightium’s withdrawal process is simple. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with our program, just notify us within 14 calendar days of your student being assigned their coursework, and we will issue a full refund on the tuition. A withdrawal after 14 days is subject to a withdrawal fee on the remaining tuition (see details above). We offer this guarantee because we hear so many positive testimonials on a daily basis.

If you are thinking about withdrawing from our school, please follow the steps below:

  • Ensure that your family’s decision to withdraw is final. There is a $50-$250 reinstatement fee, depending on how much time has passed between the student’s withdrawal form being submitted and the request to be reinstated.
  • Initiate withdrawal by completing the form found on the withdrawal page. You will receive a confirmation email with information on finalizing your financial account and requesting transcripts.

Upon submission of the Withdrawal Form, Enlightium Academy will begin the withdrawal process. Our staff will contact you if further actions will be required. This process may take several business days.

Before withdrawing your student, please consider that several options may be available to help maintain their enrollment. Review some possible solutions below:
The family's financial status has changed.

We understand that family finances might change during the school year. If your family has experienced this situation and would like to stay enrolled with Enlightium Academy, please know that you have some options:

  • The Billing Department can restructure payment plans for special circumstances. Contact the Billing Department* to see what options are available to your family.
  • Students can be transferred to a different support package (for example, changing from the Gold to the Silver Package), which is provided at a lower tuition rate. Contact the Billing Department* to make this change.
  • A family member or a local church can help with the tuition. On occasion, a student will be withdrawn for financial reasons, then a few weeks later a family member offers to assist with the tuition and the family re-enrolls. Contact the Billing Department* to arrange assistance in paying the tuition.
  • Families can enroll with Enlightium part-time, taking some courses at a public school and still taking some courses with Enlightium Academy. Contact the Billing Department* to find out how this would affect your tuition and contact your counselor to adjust the courses.

The student misses the social aspect of school and wants to have more interaction with peers.

Often a family withdraws a student from a public school for safety or moral reasons, but the student misses the social aspect. Do you know that at Enlightium Academy students can be actively involved in several social events?

  • Students can register for one or more social opportunities available through Enlightium Academy during or after Student Social Week. Social opportunities include writing back and forth with a pen pal, participating in the Art Club, and competing in chess tournaments during the Chess Club meetings.
  • Meet other students at Enlightium’s Bible Studies. The Bible Studies are virtual meetings that offer students the ability to discuss the Bible in real-time. The Bible Studies are led by Enlightium’s Spiritual Support Director or a member of the Enlightium team.
  • Families can connect with other Enlightium families on the Enlightium Parents app. Parents frequently connect with other families based on their state or interests, share advice and recommendations, and share their stories.
  • Families can enroll with Enlightium part-time, taking some courses at a public school and still taking some courses at Enlightium Academy. Talk to your counselor for more information.

Educating your children at home opens up many new opportunities for students to engage with their church, their community, and special clubs or interests in a way that is otherwise inaccessible to students attending a brick-and-mortar school. Before finalizing your withdrawal, we recommend connecting with other families to find out how you can improve your community involvement outside of school to meet your student’s needs. Studies have shown that students develop a more well-rounded social intelligence in this often more diverse setting than in a classroom setting which primarily consists of their peers.

The student has a hard time staying engaged in their school work.

If the student has a hard time focusing on the work or is not interested in it, you can take the same steps you would if you were in a public school:

  • Make adjustments to your student’s daily planner. Waking up earlier, eating healthier, exercising during the day, and taking more or fewer breaks may help the student’s attention levels.
  • Ask your student’s teacher for alternatives. At the student’s or parent’s request and per the teacher’s discretion, the teacher may allow alternative approaches to projects. For example, if the student is working on a state history essay, they may request creating a poster board instead and taking photographs to submit.
  • Contact your student’s counselor. They may have ideas on how to help your student, whether it’s as minor as helping a student look over their progress so far or as major as making a change in the student’s course schedule.
  • Try a gamification application or website. Gamification is the creative approach to taking daily, repetitive tasks and receiving digital rewards for completing them.
The curriculum is too difficult and/or requires a lot of work, or the student is waiting too long for teachers' assistance.

Parents can intervene to help their student manage their courses:

  • Make adjustments to your student’s daily planner. A better daily routine may help schoolwork feel less overwhelming.
  • Contact your student’s counselor. Counselors may be able to make adjustments to the course schedule.
  • Review the communication between your student and their teacher. If your student has unanswered help requests that extend beyond the response time based on the student’s support package, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to inform the principal’s office of the delayed responses. Technical errors or miscommunication could be factors in the delayed communications. Screenshots of unanswered messages or emails with the timestamps are extremely helpful for the principal’s office when investigating.

Keep in mind, the curriculum at Enlightium Academy is intended to challenge your student, helping to prepare them for a successful future.

A family member has a serious or terminal illness and cannot assist the student in the learning process.

Contact your student’s counselor. The counselor may have suggestions. Enlightium’s team would love to provide emotional support during this difficult time for your family and add you to our internal prayer list.

What do I do if I enroll my student under the continuous enrollment option and then change my mind or withdraw?

If a student changes from continuous enrollment to standard enrollment or is withdrawn at any time before the end of the contract, a $250 termination fee and Enlightium’s standard withdrawal policy would follow.

Tuition Policy

Payments can be delayed up to 30 days from students beginning coursework without impacting access to the course material. An email will be sent to you that will include payment setup information, the total amount due, the tuition breakdown, the number of payments, and the date you will be billed monthly, if applicable.

Payment reminders are sent three days prior to the scheduled charge date. If a payment is declined, an email will be sent which will allow a new card to be provided prior to the next scheduled attempt. After two additional attempts, the billing team will need to be notified to process the charge once the card has been updated and a $5 late fee will apply unless you are within your 14-day trial period.

  • If ten days pass from the original charge date without payment or an arrangement being made, the student’s account will be deactivated and a $25 reactivation fee will apply. An email with the details will be sent three days prior.
  • If 25 days pass from the original charge date without payment or an arrangement being made, the student will be withdrawn. A $50 reinstatement fee will apply.

Add-on fees are due within 30 days of enrollment. A member of the billing team will provide the relevant payment information via email.
