Graduation Requirements

Breadcrumbs

Students, who fulfill all the graduation requirements, will receive a high school diploma from an accredited, private high school: Enlightium Academy.

The goal of Enlightium Academy is to prepare students to meet the 21st-century demands of their post-high school education, work, and personal lives. High school students are required to meet Enlightium’s graduation requirements in order to earn a diploma.

Enlightium Academy high school students who are pursuing an academic diploma must earn a minimum of 24 credits and a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. See the grading scale for more information. Students who first enroll at EA during their senior year are required to complete at least 25% of the course work or take at least 3.5 credits in order to receive a diploma from EA; the student's counselor will assist in determining which courses need to be taken by the student. Since it is required for students to take a Bible course each year, students who attend Enlightium for four years of high school could earn a minimum of 24 credits. However, one or more Bible courses can be waived for part-time students, for students enrolling during the 4th quarter of any school year, and for other cases per the discretion of the counselor.

Seniors that meet Enlightium Academy graduation requirements and comply with their state homeschooling requirements or private school requirements (based on how their state or local school district superintendent defines accredited online high school diplomas) are accepted by most public and private universities nationwide because students are considered high school graduates without additional requirements. However, because some colleges and universities have unique admission requirements, we recommend consulting with your local school district’s superintendent and the college/university of your choice to determine what, if any, additional requirements exist in order to be considered a high school graduate. For example, some colleges have additional tests for students who did not sit in a traditional classroom environment in order to qualify for financial aid or may have specific testing requirements in order to be considered a high school graduate, such as in New York state.

College Preparatory or Honors Diploma Requirements

College preparatory students and students who are pursuing an honors diploma are recommended to meet the following requirements:

  • Earn at least 24 credits
  • Complete all Levels of assigned Naviance CCLR lessons and post-tests
  • Take a college entrance examination (ACT or SAT)
  • Earn a minimum 3.2 W-GPA on a 5.0 scale (for college preparatory diploma)
  • Earn a minimum 3.5 W-GPA on a 5.0 scale (for honors diploma)
  • All high school students attending EA are required to take a Bible course each year.

High School Diploma

To receive an Enlightium Academy (EA) high school diploma, students need to earn a minimum of 22–24 credits between grades 9–12, depending on which year they enrolled at EA and if they are working toward a standard or a college preparatory/honors diploma. Credits previously earned at another traditional school or homeschool program per EA counselor’s evaluation and approval will be transferred to EA. However, if a student enrolls at EA during his/her senior year at least four credits must be earned at EA in order to receive a diploma. The student's counselor will assist in determining which courses need to be taken.

Students or parents can contact their student’s counselor if they have any questions about the diploma. If the monthly payment plan is chosen, the $50 fee will be divided evenly among the monthly payments. The diploma fee is $100 for international students. This fee covers the cost of the diploma, handling, and shipping. Diplomas will be sent to students upon completion of all graduation requirements, typically within two weeks of the end of school year. There is no discount on the diploma fee.

College Attendance of Enlightium Graduates

In 2017, Enlightium Academy (EA) began incorporating the Naviance platform for students in grades 6–12. Among many of the beneficial features for students, Naviance allows EA to track its graduates’ university acceptance.
