4th Grade Curriculum Overview

Bible Studies

1 year

Teach your students how to find inspiration through the teachings of Jesus in this Bible course. With discipleship as its focus, the course explores God's Word through text-based lessons, multimedia elements, and Bible verses (KJV). Colorful and interactive, the course covers Scripture from the Old and New Testaments, encourages reading the Bible, and living a life based on God's Word.

This Bible curriculum for 4th graders was designed to be user friendly by accommodating students still learning computer skills. Throughout the course, they will study important biblical figures who accepted God's will for their lives and became disciples, living by the laws of the Creator. Practical lessons help them understand the connection between biblical content and living a Christ-centered life such as the importance of obeying parents, telling the truth, showing kindness to others, and walking in the Spirit. Technology-based, the course also helps students prepare for the future by supporting digital literacy.

History/Geography

1 year – available in Honors

Take your students on a learning adventure around the world with this geography course that helps them map a route to academic success and digital literacy. Students will love this media-rich course that allows them to visit a variety of ecosystems all across the globe through exciting lessons, audio and video clips, interactive games, and fun activities. Like all courses offered at Enlightium Academy, this world geography course explores God's world from a Biblical perspective, encouraging students to recognize and appreciate the wonders of the natural world.

Lessons focus on diversity of cultures, plants, and animals from all over the world. From Kenya to Hong Kong, and Nepal to the Andes, interactive maps and hands-on exercises make learning fun and support retention of key concepts.

Language Arts

1 year – available in Honors

This integrated language arts course incorporates spelling, reading, writing, grammar, and literature in one Bible-based, technology-driven course. Students continue exploring the use of words for written and spoken communication while investigating a variety of literary genres including poetry, essays, fiction, and nonfiction. This comprehensive course also includes content geared toward practical Christian living and evaluating the world of language from a Christian worldview.

With lessons that focus on reading fluency and comprehension, the effective use of punctuation, report organization and writing, creative expression through writing, and much more, this course provides a motivating learning environment where students can practice digital literacy skills while improving their use of the language.

Math

Developed to ensure that 4th grade students build a firm foundation in basic math skills, this course reinforces the fundamentals while students use interactive tools to learn about whole numbers and fractions, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, and shapes and measurements. Through the use of challenging lessons and interactive practice, 4th Grade Math helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while exploring the world of numbers from a biblical perspective.

Interactivity makes a difference when it comes to understanding complex math skills. 4th Grade Math students have access to innovative, multimedia exercises that provide the practice to prepare them for assessment. Broad in scope, lessons put the fun back into math fundamentals, encouraging a lifetime love of this important core subject.

Science

Science for 4th grade Christian school students sparks scientific inquiry and encourages critical thinking that will take today's learners into the future. Students explore matter as they travel through space exploring not only the earth, but the sun, the moon, and the planets. Exciting lessons cover the ecology of the earth and how weather and other scientific forces affect life on our planet. Infused with biblical content and Bible verses (KJV), students examine God's work in the world around them and engage in learning from a Christ-centered point of view.

This course is challenging and interactive, providing tools within the curriculum to support self-directed learning. Like all courses offered at Enlightium Academy, lessons are delivered from a biblical perspective to help train students to view the natural world around them based on the Word of God.
