How Washington Families Can Enroll at Enlightium Academy

Enlightium Academy is an approved private Christian school in Washington and is accredited by Cognia and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Enlightium has served co-op schools, online students, and homeschool K-12 students since 2003. In this blog, we provide Enlightium families with generic information about Washington state’s requirements. Parents are encouraged to review the state’s requirements at hslda.org/legal, OSPI, and/or the Washington State Board of Education, as requirements are subject to change over time. Virginia Homeschooling Requirements

As K-12 education policies are different in each state, it is a parental responsibility to check on one’s state’s homeschool requirements and fulfill them as applicable. To assist parents with this process, Enlightium provides basic information about most states’ requirements. Parents are also encouraged to review their state requirements at hslda.org/legal and the Virginia Department of Education, as educational policies are subject to change over time.

Illinois is one of the few states in the U.S. with a tax credit program. For being enrolled in a private school, families in Illinois can receive up to a $250 credit per dependent each school year. Parents can receive a credit of 25% of their expenses after the first $250; the maximum credit a family can receive is $750.

South Carolina offers a unique tax option: a refundable tax credit available to parents/guardians of students with special needs. South Carolina matches the federal definition of special needs as a “child with a disability”; more can be found at 34 CFR 300.8. The parents/guardians must also believe that the public school district that the student would be attending, if not enrolled in a private school, would not meet the student’s needs.
