One of the most common questions from families considering enrolling at Enlightium Academy is, "How many hours per day will my students spend in their classes?"
The short answer? It depends.
Every student is unique—and one of the biggest advantages of learning at Enlightium Academy is flexibility. There’s no strict daily schedule unless your family prefers one. Here is a Daily Schedule Sample you can adapt to your student’s needs and your family’s rhythm.
Enlightium students are free to learn when it works best for them, working at their own pace and taking the time they need for each subject. That said, we can offer some general guidance based on grade level and course load.
Typical Daily Time Commitments
While actual time may vary based on how quickly a student works through each course or how in-depth they go with their assignments, here are average estimates for most learners:
- Pre-Kindergarten (Book-Based Program): two to three hours per day, on average, four days a week
- Kindergarten (Book-Based Program): three hours on average per day, four days a week
- 1st -2ndGrade (Book-Based Program): four hours on average per day, four days a week
- 3rd–9th Grade (Book-Based Program): five to six hours per day, four days a week
- 3rd–8th Grade (Online Program): four to five hours a day, four days a week
- 9th–12th Grade(Online Program): six to seven hours a day, four days a week
Additional Time Commitments (If Applicable)
Some students choose to take more advanced or specialized coursework. These can add to their daily or weekly academic time:
- Honors or AP courses: honors courses add up to one hour a day, and AP courses add up to two hours a day of work
- Dual Enrollment or College-Level courses: College courses can vary in time commitments Since standard Enlightium courses typically require 45–60 minutes per day, students enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses should plan for additional time each day based on the specific demands of each college-level course.
What Makes Enlightium Academy Different?
At Enlightium Academy, students have the ability to:
- Work at their own pace. If students grasp a concept quickly, they can move through the course at an appropriate speed. If a concept is more challenging, they can take as much time as they need in order to master the lesson.
- Choose when to do their work. Whether early in the morning, late at night, or somewhere in between, students can build a schedule around their lives—not the other way around.
- Access to courses 24/7 for most days of the school year. Enlightium students typically work Mondays through Thursdays; however, with nearly non-stop access to courses, students can use Fridays, weekends, or holidays to catch up or work ahead.
This flexibility allows students to balance academics with family time, travel, health needs, extracurriculars, part-time jobs, or passions outside of school.
So, how many hours a day will your students spend in class? The answer will depend on their grade level, pace, and path. But one thing’s for sure: with Enlightium, they’ll have the freedom to grow in a way that fits who they are and how they learn best.
