Dr. Maya Herzog
Science Teacher
As early as 4 years old, Dr. Herzog knew she wanted to be a scientist. After high school, she followed family tradition and enlisted in the US Navy, where she participated in oceanographic sonar operations. During her time in the military, she got her first experience as a teacher, teaching underwater physics, oceanography, and sonar electronic systems. In her free time, she worked with the Chaplain to organize humanitarian outreach for communities in developing countries they visited. After her time in the military, she completed her Ph.D. in Quantitative Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington.
In her free time, Dr. Herzog likes spending time with her family and, most of all, she enjoys spending time with her son as they enjoy the great outdoors.
