How are honors courses reflected on report cards and transcripts?

  • Honors courses contribute to your weighted GPA and increase the value of the student’s final GPA by 0.5. For example, if your student got a 3.0 in a honors class, the transcript will reflect a 3.5 GPA.
  • Honors courses are indicated with an “H” on the transcript and report cards

Can my honor student transfer into the Honors Program after starting a standard course?

At Enlightium Academy, we want to set your student up for success. There are times when a student is not being adequately challenged by the standard coursework and can benefit from transferring into the Honors Program after a course has started. If you see that your student is not academically challenged, please contact your counselor to request consideration for transfer into the Honors Program. A 15% transfer fee may apply, depending upon the timing of your request. Refer to the Honors Program costs in the table below for details.

What can I do if my honor student is feeling overwhelmed by their honors course?

Taking honors courses can motivate a student, provided the coursework does not push the student beyond their personal limits. Each honors student is different and the amount of course rigor should match the student’s abilities and interests. Honors courses should also continue to challenge them without creating a sense of being overwhelmed. If your student is feeling overwhelmed, please call their counselor to discuss the situation and request a transfer out of the honors program. Depending upon the timing of your request, you may be able to avoid the transfer fee associated with the Honors Program. See the Program costs table for additional details.

How will my honor student’ report card or transcript reflect transferring out of the Honors Program?

Using an example of transferring out of Honors English to Standard English, the teacher and your counselor will work together to ensure that you have been transferred successfully into a standard English course from your Honors English course. Your transcript will reflect that you attempted the standard English course and after you have completed the course successfully, your transcript will reflect that you earned high school credit for a standard English course.
