Parent-Teacher Conferences

“Talking with the teacher enabled us to feel more connected and aware of our child’s areas of concerns and strengths.”

Parent-teacher conferences at Enlightium Academy (Enlightium) consist of a meeting between the parents or guardians of a student and their teacher. Both parties discuss the student’s strengths and weaknesses in a particular course to determine how to best assist the student in moving forward. Conferences are available via email or phone (depending on your student's support program). Conferences for the rest of the 2019–2020 school year will take place in March 2020.

We understand that many families are busy, which is why parent-teacher conferences are available for an entire month (or longer, if needed). This time allows parents to easily plan a day and time that works for them and their student’s teacher.

Special Note for Students in Grades PreK-2

Conferences are conducted monthly with the Primary School Coordinator. No parent-teacher conference form is needed.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Step 1

Review Your Student's Grades and Courses

Log in to your parent portal or the student’s portal to identify one or more courses to select for the parent-teacher conference.

  • Please note that Enlightium's parent-teacher conferences are designed to focus on quality over quantity. This means that for each student, only one or two courses should be chosen to discuss with teachers, allowing our teachers to dedicate more time to the course(s) in question. We recommend choosing the course where the student has the most room for improvement.
  • In addition to parent-teacher conferences, parents are encouraged to reach out to teachers throughout the school year (when needed).

Step 2

Submit the Parent-Teacher Conference Form

The form will be available in the weeks preceding the November and March conference months. Depending on which form of communication the family chooses (if applicable based on the support program), the teacher will reach out to the family by phone or email. Please be patient, as it may take several weeks for the teacher to reach out.

Note: registration for March conferences ends on March 31 at 11:59 pm PST.

Step 3

Conference Scheduling

Your student’s teacher will reach out to your family via email once parent-teacher conferences begin. Due to the volume of parent-teacher conference requests, the emails are sent in the order in which they were received, so the conferences might carry over into the following month.

  1. Students in the Diamond, Platinum or Gold program
    • If you choose a phone call, the teacher will send an email with a link that shares the teacher’s availability and allows parents to select a time that will work for them. Teachers are available for parent-teacher conferences for an entire month (or longer, if necessary).
    • If you choose to have the conference via email, the teacher will send a Teacher Detailed Report, which is a thorough review of your student’s performance. Parents can continue to communicate with the teacher in the same email thread for as long as needed.
  2. Students in the Silver Premium, Silver or Bronze Program
    • The teacher will send a Teacher Detailed Report, which is a thorough review of your student’s performance. Parents can continue to communicate with the teacher in the same email thread for as long as needed.

Step 4

Continue to Monitor Your Student’s Progress throughout the School Year

You are strongly encouraged to log into the parent or student portal at least once a week to see your student’s progress and grades. Please reach out to any of your student’s teachers or counselor at any point during the school year. You do not have to wait until the months of parent-teacher conferences to discuss with us any issues the student may be experiencing.

Why Should I Register for a Parent-Teacher Conference?

There are many collaborators in a student’s education: parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, and students. Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity for teachers and parents to meet, often for the first time, and have an open discussion about the student’s academic performance.

Topics discussed may include:

  • Observations of the student’s overall progress in the class
  • Specific strengths
  • Suggestions for ways the student can grow
  • Helpful resources
  • Any questions the family might have

Please note, the following date(s) will NOT be available for parent-teacher conferences:

  • Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 – school will be closed due to quarter break.
